Choose from the following locations:Wolf Rock ( Mansfield Hollow, CT) - This location offers an excellent introduction into outdoor rock climbing. Cliff height averages 30 ft. with numerous very easy climbing routes. Geared toward novices, youths, and family excursions. Rock Type - Sedimantary quartz conglomerate.. Rattlesnake Moutain (Farmington, CT) - This area is a short walk from Route 6 on the Metacomet Trail and doesnt recieve much traffic. Cliff height varies from 40 to 75 ft. with three separate cliff faces. Climbs vary in diffuculty from novice to advanced. Rock Type - Trap Rock (Basalt). Pinnacle Rock (Plainville, CT) - This is another cliff located along the Metacomet Trail. It is easily accessable and offers spectacular views and a feeling of exposure while on the cliff face. Cliff height 50 - 90 ft. offering an extensive variety of climbs: bouldering, slabs, dihedrals, overhangs, faces, and cracks. Climbs geared toward novice to advanced. Rock Type - Trap Rock(Basalt). Ragged Mountain (Southington, CT) - Ragged is by far the most popular climbing spot in Conn. Main Cliff soars to a towering 120 feet. This area offers boulder, top rope and lead climbing in a pristine area maintained by the Ragged Mountain Foundation. Climbs are moderate to advanced. Rock Type - Trap Rock (Basalt). Guided Rock Climbing in New HampshireTrip includes 2 days, transportation, camping arrangments, food, and all climbing gear. Some personal clothing/gear requirements. Please register in advance. ($325 ea. 2-3 persons) Cathedral and White Horse (N. Conway, NH) - These two striking cliff faces can be seen from miles around. They tower over the valley, soaring from 400 to 1,000 ft.+. There are a variety of climbs, almost all multi-pitch. The Practice Wall is a top rope area for warm ups or cool downs after a day of climbing. Base camp is set up south of Conway at a local campground with full facilities (over night). Rock Type - Granite. |
